Google announced on 20th August that they will be releasing the Pixel 10, 10 Pro, Pro XL, and Pro Fold. The one that caught my eye was the Pixel 10 Pro XL because, obviously, it is the biggest of them all.
On the flip side of things, Samsung’s big boy (the Galaxy S25 Ultra) has been around for a while now. It is one of the best big phones in the arena of Android arena. But can the Pixel 10 Pro XL take the throne from the Galaxy S25 Ultra?
Well, that is exactly what I will be exploring in this article. If that sounds interesting enough to you, let us hop right into it.
Google Pixel 10 Pro XL vs. Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Display Comparison
This is the first thing that you might notice when you glance at these phones.
Why? Because they are big, bright displays. Speaking of which, let me throw some light on the display specs.
Starting with the new release, Google Pixel 10 Pro XL has a 6.8-inch OLED display that features an LTPO panel. LTPO means that the refresh rate can range between 1-120Hz, depending on the situation. For example, if your phone screen is still, it will drop to 1Hz to preserve the battery. While you scroll through social media, it refreshes at 120Hz.
Also, it gets plenty bright outdoors (3300 nits to be precise). It is one of the brightest displays of any phone currently on the market. I really like that.
On the other hand, Samsung is really the king of displays, and that can easily be seen in the display of the Samsung Galaxy S25. It is a gorgeous 6.9-inch Super AMOLED display that clocks between 1 and 120Hz.
The max brightness on this phone can reach up to 2600 nits, and that is good enough for the brightest days. It really is pretty bright and beautiful. Why am I exaggerating on that?
The other day, I was dining while watching Breaking Bad because I had Spectrum availability (my reliable internet provider) of a Wi-Fi hotspot. A guy came up to me. He complimented my fragrance and asked me what phone I was using. It was my S25 Ultra, and he was really impressed by its display.
All in all, if you consume a lot of content on your phone, then the Galaxy S25 Ultra is the right choice for you.
Google Pixel 10 Pro XL vs. Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Performance Comparison
To be frank with you, it doesn’t make sense to compare both because the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is way ahead of the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL. But for the sake of comparison, let me do it.
Google Pixel 10 Pro XL is powered by the new Tensor G5 chipset that is based on the TSMC 3nm architecture. It is much improved over the 9 Pro XL, but when it is compared to the S25 Ultra’s processor, it is not on par.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which is custom-made for Galaxy phones, specifically the S25 series.
In terms of RAW performance, the GeekBench scores show great differences between the two. But what about the real-world usage of the two?
You won’t be able to spot much difference between the two phones, especially when using them for regular tasks like replying to emails, taking photos, and stuff like that.
Here is the thing: Google has promised seven years of major OS updates for the Pixel, just like Samsung did for the S25 Ultra. But the problem is long-term sustainability. Each major OS update will bring new features, and with that, the phones will likely get slower. Will the new Tensor chipset be able to hold up? I don’t think so.
Ultra is powered by one of the best processors, and that too custom-made for Galaxy, so you can expect it to last at least 4 years without slowing down.
The bottom line is that if performance is your concern, skip the Pixel and get the S25 Ultra.
Google Pixel 10 Pro XL vs. Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Camera Comparison
In the previous two departments, Samsung has been the winner, but let me tell you – Pixel still has the best cameras in any Android. Or should I say the best computational photography? Confusing, right? Let me explain.
Undoubtedly, Samsung has big camera lenses peaking up to 200MP, and a couple of other cameras like ultrawide and periscope. But the thing is, Pixel doesn’t really rely much on bigger camera lenses or hardware power. Google is a software company, and it can literally change the state of photos through computation. That is why the photos you see through the camera lens, and the actual photo in your gallery, are different. The one in the gallery is much better.
So, if you need the best photos, then get a Pixel, and skip the S25 Ultra.
Let’s address the elephant in the room: which one is better than the other? It is subjective, but for me, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is still a better value for money than the Pixel 10 Pro XL. It offers more power, a better display, and an overall better experience. So, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is the winner for me.
