Oscar Fraulo has completed a January transfer to Derby County, the club confirmed on Friday, strengthening Paul Warne’s midfield options for the second half of the season. The 21-year-old Danish midfielder arrives from Borussia Mönchengladbach after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical, according to club officials.
Derby said Fraulo has signed a contract running until the end of the current campaign, with the deal finalised ahead of the Championship’s mid-season schedule. The club described the move as part of its strategy to add energy and technical quality in central areas as the promotion race intensifies.
Fraulo, who came through the youth system at FC Midtjylland before moving to Germany, has previously gained senior experience in the Bundesliga and on loan in European competitions. Derby officials said his background at club and international youth level made him an attractive option during the winter window.
Speaking after the announcement, Fraulo said he was eager to begin training and contribute immediately, adding that the opportunity to play regular first-team football was a key factor in the decision. Derby confirmed he has already linked up with the squad at Moor Farm training centre.
Manager Paul Warne said the midfielder’s versatility and work rate were important considerations, noting that the club had been monitoring his availability before making a formal approach. Warne added that Fraulo is expected to compete for selection in upcoming league fixtures.
Derby are scheduled to return to Championship action this weekend, with the club indicating Fraulo could be available for selection subject to league registration. No financial details of the transfer were disclosed.
