Micheal Ray Nguyen-Stevenson (Compton, November 19, 1989), known professionally by his stage name Tyga (a backronym for Thank you God always), is an American rapper. He is best known for being signed by Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment in 2008. His music videos are known for explicit scenes and deep lyrics. He has also produced and acted in a few adult films based on his hit ‘Rack City’. He received a Grammy nomination and even won a MuchMusic Video Award.
Tyga was influenced by street life during his childhood, where he was introduced to rap music. His parents are of Vietnamese and Jamaican descent, but Michael himself was born in California. Stevenson’s career began with him releasing a multitude of demo tapes and mixtapes in 2007. Tyga mentions that his music is inspired by pop and rock.
