Tory Lanez

Tory Lanez is the stage name of Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson (Brampton, 27 July 1992), a rapper, singer, and record producer from Canada. He lived with his family in Montreal, before moving to Miami, Florida where he practised his rap skills as a child. His mother died when he was young, and from that moment, he moved a lot and when in Atlanta, Georgia, Daystar met Hakeem. Hakeem gave him the nickname Lanez, as a reference to Daystar’s thrill-seeking tendencies. At the age of 16, Daystar dropped out of tenth grade, and he began performing songs at outdoor concerts. He first gained recognition through his mixtape ‘Conflicts of My Soul: The 416 Story’, released in August 2013. After that, his tracks ‘Say It’, ‘Luv’ and ‘Broke In A Minute’ all became hugely popular. Lanez even received a Grammy Award nomination for the song ‘Luv’.
