Origin: United States
Durk Derrick Banks (Chicago, October 19, 1992), known professionally as Lil Durk, is an American rapper and singer from Illinois. He is also the lead member and founder of the record label Only the Family (OTF). He combined pop elements with a raw lyrical style and helped set the tone for the melodic sound Chicago became known for as the decade progressed. He released two albums that both reached the Top Five at Billboard 200: Love Songs 4 the Streets 2 (2019) and The Voice (2020).
Before Durk turned one year old, his father was arrested. Due to his dad being in jail, he had many responsibilities as a child. There were often times when there was not enough food at home. Durk did everything he could to make life a little better. He started to become known on Myspace and YouTube and because of his following he got the idea to become a rapper. From the age of 17, Durk began to grow his rap career, while at that time he also dropped out of school and joined a street gang.
